How to Read Online Newspapers Without Being Bombarded by Advertisements
By Plugged | January 8, 2008
I easily get miffed by all the advertisements in websites, particularly in online newspapers, many of them flash-based that takes forever to load. Online newspapers will hate me for this but there’s a way to read their stuff without getting bombarded by ads: use their mobile versions.
Mobile versions are meant to be sent to smart phones and portable devices. Although many also carry minimal advertising, most are text-only, stripped of practically everything but words. To see what I mean, check out the mobile version of Inquirer.net.
The downside, of course, is that you don’t get to experience a site’s interactive features, images, videos, and audios. But if you are only after the stories, the mobile version is a good way to save time.
