For one whole year, I was stuck with Bayantel’s DSL service. It gave me frequent, almost regular, headaches — mainly slow and intermittent connection. I was paying good money for Bayantel’s rather expensive service (1,699 pesos for a 784 kpbs connection). I couldn’t wait, as you can imagine, for the one-year lock-in period to end.
And at about the same time that I was planning to abandon Bayantel, somebody dropped a flyer for Globe Broadband into my mailbox offering the ideal DSL plans. Having subscribed to Globe DSL a few years back and was generally happy with that experience, I decided to switch to Globe Broadband.

Poor caloy. Had the same experience with Digitel.When I pressed for details what the “network problem” is, they said “may problema sa network.” We had no dial tone for more than a month and this happened twice already.

For two weeks I had problems with my wireless. This was Verizon in New York. I had been calling them on and off for days — which meant getting to a pay phone outside on the coldest days imaginable. Finally, I decided to stop being polite and vowed to give them hell. So I dial the 800 number, give my account number and was asked: what is the name on the account, ma’am? I gave my name. A moment of silence. Then, the female voice on the other line: “Excuse me, ma’am, but are you the writer?” The call center was in the Philippines. Unfair! I couldn’t even be angry.

I noticed that globe actually gives out 2 DSL types - the first, and unfortunately the one that you got,is DSL+Phone line which as you know, sucks. The second is the data only (3mbps for P1995) and is actually pretty good, i have a P995(1mbps) plan installed and i compare it to my existing Skycable ZPdee 1995 plan (1mbps) and hands down the globe broadband connection is better. I also have several friends who use the P1995 plan and there have only been praises from them about the connection speeds and reliability. Bottom line, if you’re gonna go with globe, get the DATA only connection.

i actually wanted the DATA only connection, but globe told me that since their service in my area is fairly new, they can offer only DSL + Phone. they said i could change this later, so i agreed.

Can you believe I’m paying good money for my internet service but get disconnected every 2-3 minutes?! It’s the globe broadband, but it’s much worst than dial-up! Globe Telecom sucks! Idiots!

i can only attest to the stupidness of their hotline agents.
very much like caloy’s experience, i was asking about my user id/pwd for accessing wiz (worldpass) wifi… and the guy kept instructing me how to setup my laptop for a worldpass dial-up account and i reprimanded him for not knowing what their products are and what the differences are between wifi hotspot, wireless modem, and dial-up connection. geez these people don’t know a thing…
as for their service, i’ve had mine installed for the last 5 months. plan 1995 (2Mbps data + landline bundle). the speed based on free speedtests (www.speedtest.net) proved i have a very fast connection compared to my former 2Mbps pldtdsl and even to others. got slow connection or disconnection about a couple of times throughout the last 5 months. i just leave it and go to bed and by morning voila it works..
so there. im not sure the experience will be the same for everyone since people who would write about their globe experience are usually the ones who have something to complain about. their customer service agents suck bigtime for sure. but can’t say the same about their service/connection as i’ve been doing great for the last 5 months.
btw, my location is bel-air, makati if that matters…

Just a matter of correction, stupidness is not a word. It’s either stupid or stupidity.
Also, I heard Globe would offer the Asus EEEC PC + Phone + DSL in a bundle. Its not yet confirmed though..

Tangina naman, pagnagdodownload aq laging nadidisconect, minsan nga 99% na ung download q tapos biglang madidisconect, 1 1/2 hour qng hinintay tapos disconect, PUTANG INA cno ba naman ang di magagalit nun, pati streaming videos di q na ginagawa, nayayamot lng aq, lalo n pag online gaming, nung 2006 p daw 2ng gani2 eh, ang hirap p n2 may bago clang commericial, ung plan 595 b un, putang ina ang kakapal ng mukha, mabankrupt sna ang globe

MALAKING TAE talaga ang Globe DSL
I’m on 1.5mbps wired data only plan. Halos 2 weeks na walang connection. Before that, panay disconnect every 10mins.
MALAKING TAE din ang 919-8888 (Customer disService) nila. Walang alam kundi “SORRY” and “WE’RE COORDINATING”.. Pinaka-bobo na sila pagdating sa computer knowhow. Saan kayang kanto pinupulot CSRs nila?

It’s sad to say that we don’t have good ISPs in the Philippines. We are just wasting our money for paying expensive ISP subscription and then getting very slow connection in return. Why can’t Philippine ISPs offer something like 8MBPS,16MBPS or 24 MBPS that cost only few thousand of pesos, like in Europe, particularly here in France. I’ve got good ISP that offers me 8MBPS internet connection, plus Telephone Over Internet Protocol (TOIP, free call around France and very cheap international calls), plus cable TV for only 33 Euro(aprox 2300 pesos). And, voila, I’ve got also wireless modem provided by my ISP. And I don’t have to pay for the remaining months of the 12 month lock in period when I decide to terminate my account by just informing my ISP atleast 10 days before the termination. It’s just lead me to disappointment on my current SMARTBRO subscription in the Philippines after having this good ISP subscription here in France. I’m planning to change my SMARTBRO to another ISP when I come back home in the Philippines. But, I’m just so afraid that when I switch to GLOBE, PLDT or DIGITEL, I’ll just be disappointed because I will not surely get the same service and internet speed I’m currently having here in France, which costs almost the same price for Philippine ISPs.

Ang masasabi ko lang eh ang kapal ng mukha ng Globe na i-lock ka ng 1 years tapos puro bills at walang service, ang tatanga pa at ang bobobo ng mga customer support nila, pati mga technician mga boplaks, TANG-INANG GLOBE! dapat mademanda kayo, hindi lang kami ang may responsibilidad na magbayad, kayo din may responsibilidad na magbigay ng service, you’re a fraudulent company!

globe broadband… 0/10 … loc- qc… service sucks… starting from internet connection down to d billing dept and tech support… 1/10 agents - knows how to read their system others not… they give wrong information… sobrang grabe… lagi pang down system… their 24 hrs service… naging 48 hrs … ngayon 5 days or more… as in sobra…

when i talked to my friend in the USA i was very proud to tell him that I got a 2.5 MGB here in the Philippines but i didnt tell him that there was a frequent disconnection.. Nahihiya lang ako kasi he got 16 megabits and not shared line and he paid less.. He paid less than i pay on my 2.5 mega bits here NAKAKAHIYA naman… I got disconnected many times pa pero yung ibabayad mo every month is fix talaga diba parang na scam? hoy ayusin nyo ang trabaho nyo para mabawas bawasan ang mga may highblood dito..isa kung saan man yung lugar na marami ang mahihirap doon pa ang may mahal na bayad sa internet.. totoo naman a.. Bakit sa usa napaka cheap yung monthly payments eh marami naman silang pera dun? i balanse nyu nga yan.. .

Naku, pati yang Globe line na yan, nakakairitang sistema ang meron sila!
meron kang 2,500 na credit limit, ibig sabihin hinde pwede lumampas ng ganun yung billing mo.. but then we found out na meron silang .25$ na charge sa internet access per kilobyte! at ang 2,500 na limit, nabypass at naging 10,000!!! kamusta naman yun di ba? para saan ang credit limit? in the first place, nadidisconnect nga lahat ng internet access ko, so retry ako ng retry magsend.. tapos ayan, lumaki ng lumaki ang bill! badtrip! dapat yang system ninyo ibinabasura!!!
