President Benigno S. Aquino III betrayed his apparent mindset about the extrajudicial killings in the Philippines – a thinking that, I’m afraid, doesn’t inspire confidence in his or his spokesman’s repeated avowal that his administration will do its best stop the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice.
I am directing the Armed Forces of the Philippines to stop its Oplan Bantay Laya campaign. This campaign has been proven to be a failure because it did not end the communist insurgency.
Perhaps it would help the new administration to differentiate communications from propaganda and build its communications structure around it.
I cannot presume to know the current inner workings of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) but I find it distressing that, except for releasing a statement on June 29, the union has apparently not done much to support and promote the welfare of the dozens of workers of television giant ABS-CBN.

Correct me if I’m wrong but most other rape victims who successfully sent their rapists to jail do not enter into a compromise with the convict to overturn the conviction. Because of Smith’s conviction, Nicole got her dignity back. And I’m still trying to understand why she had to lose it so quickly again.
