FORT Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army is one with various government agencies in the celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Commission’s 108th year this month as it recognized its top 10 skilled workers as well as its employees who have served the Army for 30 to 45 years, in today’s flag raising ceremony, which was graced by no less than the Army chief Lt. Gen. Victor S. Ibrado.
“It is amazing to note that these people have already started their service in the Philippine Army when I was still in high school, and for some of you, were not even born yet. Some of them started as clerks and now they are already holding supervisory positions,” the 54-year-old Army chief said in admiration.
The gold service medallions were given to civilian employees who have rendered service in the Philippine Army for 30 to 45 years. Serving the organization for 30 years were: Anita P Custodio of the Office of the Chief Engineer Philippine Army and Rebecca C Terdorico of the Management and Fiscal Office; for 38 years – Paulino Q Llantes of the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital and Beatriz M Coloma of the Intelligence and Security Group; for 40 years – Ester A Limet, Special Services Unit and Delma M Casugbo of the Finance Center, PA; for 41 years – Editha P Bitas of the Army Support Command; Flora A Zabala, Office of the Dental Surgeon; and Virginia G Buenaobra, of the Finance Center, PA; and for 45 years – Gregoria T Revilla of the Accounting Services.
The awarding of the skilled workers, on the other hand was under the ‘Bida Ka’ Program of the CSC, an activity that seeks to highlight the collective impact of the contribution of an employee such as drivers, utility workers, and mechanic. The awardees were chosen based on the extra efforts exerted in their field of work and even beyond their call of duties.
The awardees include Gordon S Sotero, Mechanic; Ireneo P Oreta, Electrician; Efren D Isaac, Mechanic, all from the Army’s 9th Post Engineer Detachment; Leopoldo G Rizaldo, Cook and Joel A Aldaba, Mechanic/ Driver, both from the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital; Antonio C Tamayo, Painter/ Carpenter of the Army Management Information Center; and Jerry G Lerin, Mechanic of the Army Support Command. Each of them received a certificate of recognition and a box full of grocery items.
With a theme “Republic Service – Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Panahon ng Paghamon”, the month-long celebration of the 108th year of Philippine Civil Service this year culminated in the Army today.
Coinciding with the event was the send-off ceremony for the graduates of the Officer Candidate Course Class 33-07. They will be distributed to the various units of the Philippine Army where they will begin their career as officers. #
