As it turns out, Google’s browser, Chrome, will probably not be as extension- (or add-on- or plugin-) friendly as Firefox. (Well, not soon anyway.) This, I should say, is a real problem. Because of this, I’ll probably not be using Chrome as much as I use Firefox, although if Firefox acts up again due to its inability to handle Javascript properly, I might use Chrome on a per-need basis.
Just to give you an idea how helpful Firefox extensions are, here are the ones that I use, snippets of code that make using Firefox worthwhile:
1) NoScript, a white-list based extension that allows me to control the scripts that run on a site that I visit. This is helpful because there are sites with scripts that can be harmful.
2) FireFTP, a fast, easy-to-use, cross-platform FTP client.
3) IE Tab, which allows me to open Internet Explorer within Firefox. (Now tell me, how cool is that?)
4) ColorZilla, an eyedropper or color picker that, with just one click, allows me to get the hex value of any color on my screen.
5) Google Toolbar (which is not even available in Chrome!).
6) MeasureIt, which can measure the pixel size (width and height) of anything on my screen. Very useful for developers, webmasters and designers.
These add-ons are free (and there are dozens of them here) and they sit unobtrusively on Firefox. Without these add-ons, I will have to use separate software for any or all of these functions. Frankly, I cannot imagine a post-Firefox browser that does not have the capability to run add-ons like these. (CC Hidalgo/pinoypress.net)

It will intimidate journalists and prevent them from performing their watchdog functions because the potential cost of doing their job is rather high – fine, imprisonment or closure.

Politics, Philippine StylePOLITICS By Benjie Oliveros | What do the Senate coup, the fertilizer and Euro generals scams, and the continuing extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and filing of trumped up charges against activists have in common? These show the rottenness of politics in the Philippines.
