MANILA, Philippines — The supply room of Charlie Company, 534th Engineer Combat Battalion situated in Camp Kalaw, Monkayo, Compostela Valley, was reportedly looted early Saturday morning where numerous high-powered firearms were carted away.
Initial investigation conducted, by Lt Col Alfredo Soriano, Commanding Officer of 534th ECB, with the help of PNP Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), revealed that the incident has high probabilities of an ‘inside job’.
“The execution was very well-planned. It could be an ‘inside job’ and not a raid, contrary to what was written in the news,” says Col Romulo P Cabantac, Commander of 52nd Engineer Brigade.
Two personnel from the 534th Engineer Construction Battalion are now being investigated for their possible involvement in the said incident. Meanwhile other personnel are restricted to camp while the investigation is still ongoing.
The incident was discovered by the unit’s company assistant supply sergeant and may have happened during the downpour of heavy rains early Saturday morning.
Troops are now on the lookout for two vans that were sighted at the nearby cemetery located at the back of the said supply room. Investigation is still ongoing as of press time. #
