CBCP urged to “reflect” further
Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna party-list Satur C. Ocampo today said that more damning evidences on the multi-million dollar National Broadband Network – ZTE scandal directly pointing to President Macapagal-Arroyo and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo are emerging one-by-one.
Ocampo issued the statement after an NBN document with a marginal note “copy for FG” surfaced yesterday during the Senate hearing. A new witness, Dante Madriaga who is a former ZTE consultant, in his testimony before the Senate yesterday identified the First Couple and the Greedy Group getting $41 million in advance kickback.
“More damning disclosures on the Arroyo administration’s brazen corruption and cover-up are emerging,” says Ocampo.
Ocampo said that “the unfolding events further galvanize the Filipino people’s determination to seek the truth on the multi-million dollar NBN-ZTE scandal.”
“I urge the CBCP members to reflect till they see the full light,” he said.
“I hope the Catholic bishops will not unwittingly allow themselves to be used as Ms Arroyo’s ’salvation army’ amid increasing political isolation from the people,” Ocampo said.
However, Ocampo said “the CBCP’s pastoral statement cannot pacify the surging mass movement for Ms Arroyo’s ouster.”
“The protest movement is the decisive factor in the people’s quest for truth and for deep-going change – and it has already sustained momentum. In fact, it is surging forward,” Ocampo said. #
