Satur renews GMA Resign call
Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Satur C. Ocampo today declared full-support to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines call for communal action and called on the Bishops to support street protests.
Ocampo’s statement was issued after the CBCP yesterday issued its strongest statement yet on the scandalous multi-million National Broadband Network-ZTE deal.
“It’s high-time for the people to translate the Bishops’ call into direct street protests,” says Ocampo.
The Bayan Muna lawmaker also renewed calls for the President to resign in the wake of this latest scandal rocking the administration.
“Resignation remains a decent option for Ms Arroyo to preserve any remaining respect for the presidency and for herself and her family. She should not wait for the time that even resignation will no longer be an option,” Ocampo said.
He said that “the CBCP’s statement shows that no amount of repression, deception, political maneuverings and cover up can suppress the people’s quest for the truth and end to corruption.”
“The people’s enlightenment from the truth behind the multi-million dollar NBN-ZTE scandal, coupled with sustained street protests backed by the Church could slowly lead to the boiling point of isolation of this corrupt and morally bankrupt administration,” Ocampo said. #
