There’s nothing like a great love story to move us. Love may slip through your fingers but life goes on. There’s always a better promise of things to come. Love may be lovelier the second time around.

In Ignite Media and GMA Films’ “BATANES,” love is at the center of this moving and powerful film- a heartwarming study of a relationship between two cultures. Hence the tagline, “Love knows no borders.”

Directors Adolfo Alix, Jr. (Donsol, Kadin, Tambolista) and Dave Hukom describe the film as a poignant love story about two people who may or may not end up together. “Though they are from different cultures, they’ll prove that love is very universal. Emotions know no boundaries,” the directors share.

With its vast landscapes, rough seas and ever-changing weather, Batanes is the perfect backdrop to this groundbreaking movie. Itself being an interesting character, Batanes may represent the gamut of emotions the characters feel when they fall for each other. Sweeping yet bittersweet.

Taiwanese superstar Ken Chu (Meteor Garden, Tokyo Trial) stars in his first Filipino film with Iza Calzado (Moments of Love, The Echo) in this romance drama.

The film also boasts of a powerhouse ensemble cast- newcomer Joem Bascon, Sid Lucero, Coco Martin, Mike Tan and Glaiza de Castro with acting heavyweights Bembol Roco, Daria Ramirez and Julio Diaz.

On board are line producer Arleen Cuevas, cinematographer Ramoncito Redoble , editor Miren Alvarez-Fabregas, sound recordist Mark Locsin, sound engineer Ditoy Aguila, production designer Cyrus Khan and music composer Jesse Lucas.

“BATANES” is sponsored by Asian Spirit, Fuji Film and Senco Link Technologies.

The movie opens on December 5 in theaters nationwide.
