Philippines: DOKYU Host Patricia Evangelista Speaks Her Mind Online

PUBLISHED ON November 11, 2007 AT 1:58 PM ·

With the earlier success of TV host Bianca Gonzales, basketball star Chris Tiu, and business guru Francis Kong, Yahoo! Philippines (www.yahoo.com.ph), a Pinoy-centric company, continues their celebrity campaign on Yahoo! Answers with Patricia Evangelista, a known Filipino host and columnist. Patricia is the latest Filipino cultural icons among the three more lined up to ask and answer questions from ordinary people over the next month.

Aside from being a host of ABC 5’s “Dokyu: Ang Bagong Mata ng Pinoy Documentaries” and co-host in Studio 23’s “Y-Speak,” she is known for the honor she brought to the country by being the champion at the 2004 International Public Speaking contest. Yahoo! Answers users can now look forward to exchanging insights with the witty icon starting November 8. Yahoo! Answers is an online community where people can ask each other questions on any topic, and get answers by sharing knowledge in the form of facts, opinions, and personal experiences. It can be accessed in the Philippines by going to yahoo.com.ph and clicking “Answers.”

Celebrities have been posting featured questions for the Answers community to suggest ideas and possible solutions. Each week, a celebrity posts a featured question to the community at Yahoo! Answers that inspire debate, discussion, and most importantly, to share ideas amongst its users. Each celebrity then chooses the best answer out of the responses after seven days.

“Yahoo Answers provides a more social and community-based approach to searching for and finding useful and relevant knowledge online and this is very appropriate for Filipinos,” said Jojo Anonuevo, head of business development, Yahoo! Southeast Asia. “The Pinoy celebrity campaign on Yahoo! Answers illustrates the core values of the Yahoo! brand – innovative, fun and all about people in the community,” Anonuevo added.

Yahoo! has leveraged celebrities around the world. Previously featured stars on Yahoo! Answers include Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, Bono, Leonardo di Caprio, and Bill Clinton – each who have provided and received meaningful responses from the Yahoo! community. Yahoo! Answers has over 90 million monthly users and over 250 million questions are available to be discovered in the system.

Each celebrity will post a question at Yahoo! Answers on an assigned date. One week after the question is posted, the featured celebrity will choose which one is the best answer among all the replies received. Immediately after, he/she will begin to answer questions of Yahoo! Answers user.
