Here come the blogs

Blogs have officially become agenda-setters (sort of) in national affairs. I thought of this the moment Senator Jamby Madrigal read a portion of ANC correspondent and anchor Ricky Carandang’s Sept. 24 blog entry during yesterday’s Senate hearing on the NBN-ZTE scandal. Incisive and authoritative, Carandang and bloggers like him — John Nery, Manolo Quezon, Ellen Tordesillas, Jove Francisco, Howie Severino, and the folks at PCIJ – have provided analyses and perspectives that we don’t normally get from newspapers, especially at a time like this when spin easily overwhelms the mainstream press.
