Burat: Textbook learnings for make benefit glorious nation of Philippines

PUBLISHED ON July 9, 2007 AT 7:58 PM ·

I am asking the help of all concerned citizens to help me form a group of sincere and dedicated individuals who will see to it that the errors are striken off these books. I invite volunteers from the academe, the clergy, civil societies, business and industry. The group, once constituted, must be given blanket authority to conduct a free and open review of all public school textbooks, without fear of harm or injury to their persons or their properties. The group must be assured of complete immunity from lawsuit. The DEPED must promise — publicly — to implement the corrections (perhaps, in the first year, in the form of correction pamphlets or notes). The DEPED must likewise promise — publicly — to adopt a system which will make the process of textbook evaluation and selection entirely transparent, democratic and accountable. When these conditions shall have been met, then and only then will I sit down with the group, identify the books, point out the errors and provide the corrections. I will not collect a single cent.

  1. HIYAS SA PAGBASA 5 ( written by Lydia P. Lalunio, Ph.D., Francisca G. Ril and Patrocinio V. Villafuerte )

— TITI: ARI NG LALAKI — TITATITA: BUGAW — Isang pangkat ng binata ang naghaharana. May dala silang gitara, biyolin, torotot at tambol.

  1. MASIPAG NA PILIPINO for Grade 3 ( written by Grace Estela C. Mateo, Ph.D., Lydia N. Agno, Ed.D., Celinia E. Balonso, Ph.D., Rosita D. Tadena, Ph.D., and Estelita B. Capiña )

  1. ENGLISH BOOK – I

Jose Garcia Villa wrote the story “Woman With Two Navels.” Birds hate being stared at by people. Quails stay together in groups called convey. They sleep in circle. If one quail notices something unusual, the whole convey flies away. The lizard raised its throat to achieve an impressive display. Koala swims impressively. A high lighthouse sent the captain a clue. Stop playing in your computer now. Be in the peak of health. He could think fast of a poem to write. Even “Help!” was never shouted by anyone. The Philippines has enough rain almost equally distributed throughout the year. The typhoon is moving in a northeasternly direction. Around the pool is an orientally-designed porch. Your parents don’t want me around hanging with you. I have seen some orchids in our neighbor’s botanical gardens. Playing is one of her hobbies. Politics, which takes much time, concerns with the affairs of government. Fishing means catching all kinds of living animals in the water like oysters and clams. Fish and other animals are the greatest food resources. Most people in fishing countries of the world are fishers. Would you compare fishing with politics, mathematics or aeronautics? Some plants are self-planters. They plant their own seeds. Life is the fast rising of the sun that shines on the earth which goes around it fast. Life is the late realization that life is gone and we discover it late.
