GOOGLE BOMBING ‘FILIPINA’

There’s this movement on the Internet to “take back” the word “Filipina.” You see, on Google, when you type the word “Filipina,” eight of the first 10 results yield websites that are either porn sites or engage in mail-order brides or those that, in effect, hock Filipino women as though they’re stuff on Ebay. The campaign uses “Google bombing,” which influences the ranking of certain keywords in the Google universe.

Thanks for the mention about reshaping the “Filipina” image online. Slowly, wholesome sites are gaining ground . Hopefully these unwholesome sites go down the ranking of these keyword searches.
thanks–with the enthusiasm of many Filipinos, the clean image of the Filipina is slowly taking its way up google’s first page, replacing hte unwholesome sites.
