Malacanang distorted Cebu press council resolution

8 December 2006 One Comment

The Cebu Citizens Press Council has issued a statement clarifying the resolution it issued last Dec. 5 appealing for a “greater sense of responsibility” on the part of the media and public officials vis-a-vis the (now postponed) 12th Asean Summit in Cebu. In the statement, the CCPC said Malacanang, in its press release, distorted and took some portions of the resolution out of context.

I may have spoken too soon or too harshly about the CCPC and the resolution. I had no intention to malign the group — indeed, I praise its initiatives. My apologies nonetheless if I offended my friends at the CCPC.
