Journalists are invited to attend an orientation on a unified civil (and class) suit to be filed against First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

WHAT: Orientation on the unified media civil suit vs. FG Mike Arroyo

WHEN: 10 a.m., November 22, 2006

WHERE: Faculty Lounge 2/F Malcolm Hall, University of the Philippines College of Law, Diliman, Quezon City

WHY: To address the recent stifling actions made by FG Mike Arroyo against the media, Atty. Harry Roque, Director of the UP Institute of International Legal Studies, has drafted a joint media class civil suit against the presidential spouse. Serving as the main plaintiffs in the said civil suit are the respondents in the recent libel cases filed by Arroyo. Since the proposed civil suit acts as a class suit in behalf of the media, all media organizations – including the editors and news and current affairs heads – and journalists are invited to attend the orientation and join the civil suit as supporting plaintiffs.

Atty. Roque and Prof. Luis Teodoro of UP College of Mass Communication will preside the meeting.
