Publicity Bank, “a clearing house of all sorts of materials for publication in the different media in the Philippines and other countries,” has been launched. These materials, according to the site, “include press releases, press statements, product announcements, schedules of events, media advisories, etc. These are published on this site for free.”
Last week, the California Supreme Court handed down a landmark ruling favoring web publishers. The ruling says that Internet publishers could not be held liable for defamatory or libelous comments written by others. Offended parties can only sue the original source of the material.
